I have not removed my white spacer either, because I live at 7,500 feet above sea level and a lean fuel mixture suits lean air. My factory set idle mixture is perfect for this area too.

Now, I want to ask a question: Why does the "backfire" condition improve with age/miles??
The more miles that my cycle accumulates, the less it seems to backfire---WHY? In a posting awhile back someone said that his mechanic/dealer told him the same thing! Does it have something to do with carbon buildup?
